According to the Portuguese newspaper Publico, Portuguese authorities have arrested the estate of Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, which is estimated at $10 million.
The resort is located in the Algarve region of southern Portugal. Two weeks before the start of the military special operation in Ukraine, Millhouse Views LLC, controlled by Abramovich’s investment holding, tried to sell the house, according to the publication.
Portuguese state banking firm Caixa Geral de Depositos learned of the upcoming deal and relayed the information to the police. Since March 25, registration of properties in the Algarve has been frozen at the request of the Portuguese Foreign Ministry.
Meanwhile, Abramovich’s representative told RIA Novosti that the businessman has no property in Portugal.
After the start of special operations, Roman Abramovich came under the sanctions of the European Union and Great Britain. Its assets in the West were frozen – among other things, in April the British island court of Jersey froze $ 7.3 billion related to Roman Abramovich. This is more than half of the entrepreneur’s fortune, which is estimated at $13.9 billion.
Abramovich also had to sell the London football club Chelsea – and all profits were directed to charities and invested in the development of the club, Abramovich himself did not receive any money.
