Kalush Orchestra

Ukraine won the international song contest “Eurovision” held in Turin (Italy) this year. She represented the country with the song Stefania of the Kalush Orchestra.

According to the rules of “Eurovision”, the country with the first representative will host the next competition. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky promised to do everything possible so that the event will be held in Mariupol in 2023.

Meanwhile, Spain has expressed its readiness to host the competition if necessary. This was stated by the communications director of the Spanish state television and radio company RTVE Maria Eisagirre.

Against the background of the political situation in the world, Ukraine’s victory in the competition was considered by many to be overestimated.

Eurovision fans really talked about the possible victory of Ukraine long before the final of the competition. The punters estimated the Kalush Orchestra’s chances of taking first place at 60%.

However, the network discussed not only the victory of the Ukrainian group, but also the political statement of the leader Oleg Psyuk after the performance – he called for help to the Mariupol and Azovstal plant.

The rules of the contest prohibit participants from making any political statements, but the organizers of Eurovision did not see Psyuk’s words as such.

Russia did not participate in Eurovision this year – it was removed shortly after the start of military special operations in Ukraine.
