What is this nipple shaft?

Pacifier use, this often cheered comfort item by little ones, can sometimes be hard to stop. What if this initiative could help them?

There are some who hang padlocks on bridges and others who attach pacifiers to trees. This idea is that of Matthieu Trenit, a father who lives in Saint-Nazaire in the Loire-Atlantique. Anxious to see his 4-year-old daughter making fun of the object without being able to stop, he, in agreement with the town hall, decided to set up this beautiful initiative.

A pacifier tree, to stop permanently

Concerned about her oral health, the girl’s father says he was inspired by a German tree:

My daughter Justine turned 4 in 2022 and still had the pacifier in her mouth. I discussed this with friends and we noticed that there was a pacifier tree in Berlin so that babies could leave and forget their pacifier. We thought about it and said with the city hall, why not install it in the landscape park.

France 3 Regions

This idea is not new and originated in Denmark where this ritual is referred to as subtracts.

The concept is simple: the child has to attach his pacifier to a ribbon and suspend everything from the branches of the tree, here a ginko biloba, say hello a little, and presto, it’s over.

A nice initiative for the little ones who can’t stop tickling and who may need a little extra ritual to give themselves a boost.

If there are many ideas to help children stop, such as the Clipp pacifier which had been awarded twice in the Lépine 2023 international inventors competition, this idea of a tree that grows at the same time as the children it accompanies is really cute. . Ecologically speaking, don’t panic: the ribbons are not too narrow, to let the branches grow, unimpeded and gently.
