Since Netflix shut down the free account sharing, its subscriber count exploded, marking one of the biggest periods of growth in the platform’s history.
An increase of 102%. in a few days
From May 24, Netflix subscribers must pay 5.99 euros more on the price of their subscription to sharing their account away from home. Everything suggests that users appreciate the contents of the platform and are ready to pay to have their own account.
This phenomenon, the Antenna Institute has measured it, and the observation is clear: Netflix has gained more new subscribers than it has lost. The numbers speak for themselves: in the days following the implementation of the new restrictions, Netflix saw its number of subscribers scope a 102% increase compared to March and April.
An even more profitable period than the imprisonments
Each day, these are on average 73,000 new signups that registered on the platform, peaking at 100,000 on May 26 and 27. According to Antenna, Netflix has experimented ” the four largest user acquisition days in the United States » since the institute studied subscriptions to the platform in 2019.
If this increase marks an important step in the history of the platform launched in France in 2014, it is because it even exceeds the figures recorded in March and April 2020, period of pandemic and confinements.
