Judged for moral harassment, Laetitia Avia faces a one-year suspended prison sentence

The former MP is currently on trial for moral harassment of seven of his former MP assistants.

Although she strongly denies the allegations against her, the prosecution does not waver. Following an indictment, on Thursday 1 June, the Paris prosecutor’s office asked for a year’s imprisonment, a fine of 10,000 euros and 5 years of ineligibility against Laetitia Aviacurrently on trial for moral harassment of seven of his former parliamentary assistants.

The former deputy denies any form of harassment. However, the prosecutor believes that the elected official actually ” denigrated ” AND ” humiliated ” his collaborators, and that he would thus constitute a ” eg climateeur “, while emphasizing” excess ” and the ” repetition » of the testimonies of the seven former collaborators.

Humiliating remarks and grueling working hours

In fact, five of the plaintiffs had testified in May 2020 in an inquest published by Mediapart, recounting many humiliations of which they believe they have been victims. Even the testimonials cited comments considered to be sexist, racist or homophobic held by Laetitia Avia in exchanges with her team. An investigation was opened in July 2020.

According to the prosecution, Laetitia Avia, who however was very publicly engaged in the fight against discrimination, has multiplied internally offensive and demeaning comments, sometimes of a sexist or racist nature towards its employees. For example, one of his assistants, who was of Asian origin, was called regularly ” the Chinese “. His former associates also testified to grueling workloadsome claiming they were asked to work 7am to 1am, even on weekends.
