A French museum is hosting an exhibit that requires guests to undress to enter, followed by a drink and conversation about the experience.
The event at macLYON, the contemporary art museum in Lyon, is part of a series of two performances focusing on the presence of the body in the works of the macLYON collection.
Naked visitors can enjoy Thursday’s 90-minute session, which aims to move away from 17th-century French philosopher René Descartes’ idea: “I think, therefore I am.”
Instead, it says that we are above our bodies and that there is no “pure” thought separate from a perceiving and experiencing organism.
“Our idea is to question the problem of the body in a given space, to see how bodies interact with other bodies,” a spokesperson for macLYON told The Times.

Frédéric Martin, President of the branch, added: “It’s interesting to experience an exhibition completely naked. As a result, we focus on our own perception of ourselves using a social device.’
He said naturists tend to stay out of sight so as not to “incite panic in more polite society”. But now we come out from behind our walls and say that the philosophy is going very well.’
The macLYON organizes the event together with the regional section of the French Naturist Federation, the entrance ticket costs €11.
The first act of the Incarnations series runs until July 9. The exhibited works from the 1960s to present the body in its physical truth as a means of experimenting with oneself and the world.
The second act of the exhibition begins in September 2023 in the same room and addresses the conflict between the body and the environment.

As the video progressed, the performer could be seen dashing from one side of the cage to the other before diving into a box and hiding.
As the crowd continued to cheer her, she re-emerged, this time outside the cage, clutching a bottle of wine and celebrating.
