“And this system increasingly relies on repression to maintain power and leaves no opportunity for citizens to legitimately shift power.”
He describes himself as a Russian “nationalist” and says: “I have trained people from right-wing nationalist organizations who can overthrow the current regime with a gun.”

“They told us: ‘Thank you for still being… [Russians] who have minds and hearts ready to defend [Ukraine]”.”

My task is to throw them out of Ukraine, to liberate Crimea.

Caesar, who was born in the Russian resort of Sochi, is married and has four children, said: “To be honest, I don’t want to get Ukrainian citizenship and I don’t want to stay here.

Quiet said he defected and fought for Ukrainian troops when he saw the atrocities committed by Russian troops near Kiev and said it was horrifying to see the bodies of children and women in person.
Quiet was visiting family near Kiev when he saw the atrocities in Bucha, Irpin and Borodianka – and decided to stay and fight for the Ukrainian forces.
He said: ‘[When we saw what the Russian military had done in the Kyiv region], I was shocked. We saw the bodies of civilians.
“I don’t understand at all how you can be a complete idiot, what a disaffected person you must be in life to do something like this – rape women and children.
“How can you even touch children? It feels like they released all the pervs who should have spent their entire lives in jail and sent them out of jail [to Ukraine].
You understand Putin’s system. For twenty years he gathered lackeys and degenerates around him. Now we see the result of this artificial selection.”
Since Putin’s troops invaded Ukraine more than a year ago, evidence has been mounting that the soldiers committed war crimes. Russia is accused of raping hundreds of women and girls, killing and torturing civilians in Russian-controlled cities.
The Legion has been dismissed by Russia as a public relations stunt, but has recently been labeled a “terrorist organization” by the Kremlin.
Russian sources identified Caesar as Maximilian Andronnikov and warned that he could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted in Russia.
