Reliance’s Jio Studios is planning 100 movies and TV shows

Jio Studios, the Indian content arm of Reliance Industries, unveiled a huge selection of films and streaming shows at a star-studded event in Mumbai. It has also signed a production deal with Bangladeshi film powerhouse SVF Entertainment.

The slate titles include projects for the Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, South and Bhojpuri markets and include action, drama, thriller, comedy, romance, biopics, horror and musicals.

The studio was founded in 2018, around the same time Indian streaming content was booming, when international players like Netflix and Prime Video and local services like ZEE5 Global and SonyLIV started pumping money into their local originals.

According to the SVF deal, Jio Studios and the Bangladeshi company are working to create blockbuster films from creators like Dhrubo Banerjee, Raj Chakraborty, Anirban Bhattacharya and Srijit Mukherji, with Mithun Chakraborty, Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jisshu Sengupta.
