Kate’s ‘Anguish At Walkabout With Harry And Meghan’ Revealed In New Royal Book A Month Ahead Of Coronation

Another weekend, another spate of royal headlines dominating the British press detailing the feud between Princes William and Harry and their wives – this week I focused on the anguish the then Duchess of Cambridge felt when she forced , was to go public and organize a walk. roughly with her in-laws two days after the late queen’s death last September.

The details can be found in a new book by royal journalist Robert Jobson which will appear in the magazine Daily mail and picked up everywhere.

On September 10 last year, the public watched as the royal quartet joined forces for an unscheduled walk to collect flowers and speak to well-wishers outside the gates of Windsor Castle.

As Jobson puts it: “Catherine later admitted to a senior royal that walking together was one of the hardest things she had ever had to do since the bad feeling between the two couples was so great.”

The book also describes:

Princes Charles and William decide not to be alone with Prince Harry after Sussex’s interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021;

That they feared the so-called Sandringham summit, which negotiated the details of Sussex’s exile from British public life, would be leaked if they connected a video to Meghan, who was then in Canada;

In 2016, Prince Charles was upset by his son’s statement confirming his relationship with Meghan Markle, as it overshadowed his tour of the Gulf. In the book, Charles complains about his son’s “bad manners”.

While there’s nothing new or surprising about these headlines in the context of the ongoing tussle between the two sides of the family, it’s all in the timing. This book comes out just a few weeks before King Charles’ coronation in London on May 6. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have yet to confirm their attendance at the ceremony, with media on both sides of the Atlantic reporting that their public role in the proceedings has yet to be ironed out.
