British distribution and production company Embankment Films (The father, the wife) began a major reorganization of its nonfiction business with four new senior executives.
Producers Nick Taussig, Malcolm Neaum, Sophie Harmer and researcher Henry Farrington join the company and take up their new roles immediately.
dew dew (Kill McQueen, Audrey, Escobar), a BAFTA and Grierson nominated documentary maker, teamed up with Neaum (I should not be alive, Savile Row) to produce unscripted series formats, including returnable series, for Embankment.
The two join Harmer, who recently produced the feature documentary with Taussig call me kate And Charlie Mackesy: The boy, the mole, the fox, the horse and me. Harmer becomes Head of Production Unscripted at Embankment, while Henry Farrington joins as Senior Researcher.
These four newcomers are the latest to join Embankment since veteran British producer Kevin Loader (The Death of Stalin, David Copperfield’s Personal History) joined the group in May 2022. Embankment teamed up with Loader to form a new label, Free Range Entertainment. The company’s main shareholders are Tim Haslam of Embankment and Hugo Grumbar and Loader.
The combined company will develop, produce, co-produce, market and distribute film, television and “related” content while investing directly in production and partnering with external investors and financiers.
“Our mission is to empower audience-watching storytellers to produce surprising and emotional entertainment. The company is now expanding what it offers to the market,” said Embankment founders Tim Haslam and Hugo Grumbar of today’s four appointments.
Taussig added, “We join a dynamic and experienced team with a proven track record of providing premium, reliable and consistent greenlight infrastructure for production to global distribution for filmmakers.”
Embankment has directed more than 50 scripted films and five documentaries. The company’s next global release is The Miracle Clubstarring Maggie Smith, Laura Linney and Kathy Bates, which was recently acquired by Sony Picture Classics.
