AMC Shudder’s Streamer picks up on folk horror “Mandrake” for North America, the UK and Australia; ‘Belfast’ Breakout Jude Hill in the cast

Exclusive: AMC genre streamer Shudder takes on popular Northern Irish horror mandrakeWhich premiered earlier this year at FrightFest Glasgow.

In a deal with Blue Finch Films, Shudder has acquired the exclusive rights for North America, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

The photo follows a probation officer, Katie Madden, who is tasked with rehabilitating notorious “Bloody” murderer Mary Leidlow after 20 years in prison. Katie has always believed that every customer deserves a ransom, but her faith is tested when two children disappear from the mayor’s farm.

The project celebrates Lynn Davison’s directorial debut and is produced by Marie-Thérèse McLean (derry girls Series 3) and Paul Kennedy (Overnight) and written by Matt Harvey (an act of disobedience).

The film is the latest project launched through the Northern Ireland Screen New Talent Focus program and is funded by Northern Ireland Screen and Yellowmoon post-production house.

The deal was brokered by Mike Chapman on behalf of Blue Finch Films and Gotto on behalf of Shudder. Blue Finch will continue to sell furs in the future market.

Davison said: “With the challenges of the pandemic, I often thought my ambitious debut film could never find its place in the world. But not only have we seen great festivals and great reviews, I can now proudly announce that my film, the first of many, will be available on the world’s leading streaming service, Shudder!
