Joe Biden sits down with Kal Penn for tonight’s episode of The daily showand in an early clip, the president talks about Florida lawmakers’ attacks on the transgender community.
Referring to transgender children, Biden said, “What’s happening in Florida is, as my mother would say, almost sinful. It’s just terrible what they’re doing. It’s not like a kid wakes up one morning and says, ‘ You know I’ve decided I want to be a man or a woman or I want to change I mean what are they thinking here? they’re people You love you have feelings They have tendencies that… it’s just for me , it’s, I don’t know, it’s cruel.
Biden said the response should be passing legislation, as Congress did last year, strengthening federal recognition of same-sex marriage rights.
Florida’s medical boards, with support from Governor Ron DeSantis, banned gender-affirming minor care. Lawmakers have also proposed legislation requiring teachers to match a child’s gender at birth.
Penn served in the White House during the Obama administration. The interview, which airs at 11pm ET/PT, took place at the White House and also includes a tour of the Oval Office. This is Biden’s first Daily show Interview since he became president.
