Brad Pitt became a global movie superstar in no small part thanks to Shania Twain, who immortalized him in her 1998 song “That Don’t Impress Me Much,” in which she acknowledged the aspiring actor that he clearly stands out from his peers.
Now the Canadian singer-songwriter has revealed which actor would name-check him if she were to write the same song in 2023.
Twain said the UK radio times Magazine:
“This is Channing Tatum. I think how I would sing it…
During the interview with the magazine, Twain sang the part of her famous song and tried Tatum’s name to see if it would work in the same way.
“‘Okay, so you’re Channing Tatum’ — yes, it works,” she confirmed. The singer added that she was moved to choose Tatum after seeing him in the trailer Magic Mike’s Last Dance.
Most recently, Twain caused a stir at the 2022 People’s Choice Awards when he swapped Pitt’s name for that of fellow Canadian Ryan Reynolds, who was in the audience.
Pitt was later asked what he thought of Reynolds “putting up” his musical pedestal. “The fortune can be shared,” he said cheerfully in an interview in January. Ryan is also a good egg. He deserves some love.”
The song was originally released in December 1998 as the sixth country single and seventh single overall from Twain’s third studio album. Feel free to drop byand became one of their biggest hits worldwide.
