Gunmen attacked a supermarket in Argentina owned by the family of Lionel Messi’s wife Antonela Roccuzzo, leaving the soccer star with a chilling message.
One of the two men on a motorcycle was caught on video surveillance walking up to the compound in Messi’s hometown of Rosario, about 180 miles northwest of Buenos Aires, and firing repeatedly at metal shutters on the windows and front door.
Apparently 14 shots were fired at the supermarket.
The attackers also reportedly left a handwritten message at the scene that read: “Messi, Javkin will not trade with you.”
Pablo Javkin is the current mayor of Rosario, the largest city in central Santa Fe province.
A local TV station that covered the attack claimed the report indicated criminals may have tried to extort money from the seven-time Ballon D’Or winner.
