EXCLUSIVE: Last year, doc-streamer MagellanTV struck a deal with veteran curator and broadcaster Nigel Marven, and the pair are unveiling their first project today. Wild El Salvador – In the shadow of the volcano went live and you can watch a trailer here.
The global streamer’s document follows the former BBC and hey week Host Marven as he travels to volcanic El Salvador and meets the creatures that live in the shadows of hell.
The document will be published tomorrow (March 3) ahead of World Animal Day and will be free for everyone worldwide until March 16, after which it will be placed behind a paywall.
“My film year in El Salvador was brilliant,” said Marven. “The smallest nation in Central America has a rich nature and culture. I’ll never forget visiting puma land, finding a rare El Pital salamander, wrestling a Black Sea turtle and shooting flaming dust balls at the Fire Festival.
Marven filmed and produced the documentary. He is known for his fearless approach to presenting programs such as the BBC’s Chased by dinosaurs during a quarter-century career on screen and also frontman hey week for Discovery between 2000 and 2003.
Dubbed the “Netflix for documentaries” by some news outlets, MagellanTV is an SVOD service founded by Greg Diefenbach and Thomas Lucas. It has increased its original programming strength in recent years.
