It seems that the key to an elegant silhouette lies in the shoulders, where it all starts in terms of style. In any case, this seems to be confirmed by the Saint Laurent autumn-winter 2023-2024 show artistically directed by Anthony Vaccarello and presented on February 28, 2023 in Paris, place de Guerre, Trocadéro district.
The Saint Laurent autumn-winter 2023-2024 show
Under a row of baroque chandeliers, the 50s looks were a variation on the same theme: silhouettes with maxi shoulders, forming a sort of triangle with cinched waists, and shaped legs sometimes in a knee-length pencil skirt (but with a thigh-high front slit), sometimes in tapered pants or second-skin (cashmere!) leggings. Aviator-style sunglasses, big gold jewelry, and pretty simple tops (including lots of white tank tops or bare blouses with an oversized handkerchief to hang like a train as it passes by) completed the look. Between the final passes, his shoulders became even more dramatic as an immense shawl was draped over it, pinned with a gold pin for added theatrics.

Dress up 1920s businesswomen in 80s outfits
Inspired by both the famous skirted suits of Monsieur Saint Laurent himself and those worn by Melanie Griffith and Sigourney Weaver in the film working girl (released in 1988, directed by Mike Nichols, also starring Harrison Ford), Anthony Vaccarello wants to dress the business women 2020 with clothes taken from the eighties. It was therefore a dressing room tailored more for businesswomen in offices than red carpet stars, which may come as a surpriseAnthony Vaccarello, more accustomed to dressing beauties by night than by day. But still terribly Saint Laurent.
