South Korean government considering exempting BTS members from military service

South Korea’s Minister of Culture, Arts and Sports has urged the state to exempt popular group BTS from mandatory military service, according to Variety.

But the people of South Korea reacted ambiguously to such an offer. Many citizens consider this wrong in relation to ordinary people who do not have such privileges. I must say that South Korea often imposes an exemption from the service of a certain category of citizens, for example, famous athletes and classical musicians, but this will be the first case for pop artists.

The South Korean military is calling for two years of mandatory service for all male citizens aged 18 to 28.
