For some it seems like a dream, for others more like a nightmare: Rémi le Druillenec and Quentin Obadia love each other, live together and work together For years. Married AND Associates. That’s part of what made them want to start a podcast that examines how some couples are willing and able to put their love in service of their career ambitions and vice versa.
In the first episode of “Power Couple”, released on January 31, 2023, we can hear Eve and Martin Kretz tell their love and their stories. How they work together, she as an interior designer and he as a luxury real estate agent (and maybe you’ve seen them on the show The agency broadcast on TMC and Netflix)? How to reconcile personal and professional lives, now publicized? In the second episode, it is Chérine and Stéphane who talk about their love story at work (on Netflix), since they encountered in the workplace, like 38% of French women and men. In the third episode, it is the host of TF1 Christophe Beaugrand and the journalist of France 5 Ghislain Gerin, who in turn bear witness to the intertwining of their love and their careers, but also the media coverage of their homoparental family who resorted to a GPA.
When we hear all these couples filled with love and ambition, we can be as inspired as we are complex. However, it has never been the will of Rémi le Druillenec and Quentin Obadia to present sentimental and professional relationships that could put pressure. On the contrary, it is through the multiplicity of life paths on offer, their diversity, that they hope to show that we all have different visions of what it might mean to “be successful” in one’s personal, professional and romantic life, and which are all valid in their singularity. That’s why we asked Quentin a few questions to back it up. He talks about power couplesuccess and above all love.

How do you introduce yourself and how did you meet?
We are Rémi and Quentin, we are married and partners, we co-founded the brand experience agency Héroïne.
How did you come up with the idea for this podcast?
Indeed, with Héroïne, we create a lot of very business-oriented content. Rémi has also become a real Linkedin influencer on all matters relating to the agency’s professions. Furthermore, the podcast is a medium that interests us very much on a personal level. We wanted to create different contents, which had a connection with the agency, which were inspired by us and the way we work and which offered to meet other couples who live what we live: a professional life and a personal life intertwined, with tons of projects. So we went to see Margaux, the general manager of Majelan [studio de production de contenus audios, lancé en 2019 par Mathieu Gallet et Arthur Perticoz, avec l’ambition de devenir le « Netflix du podcast », ndlr]. Actually, she’s our supergirl, so she wasn’t a… move so bold. He was offered the “Power Couple” project. He immediately went all out and offered to co-produce this podcast with us.
What would be your definition of a power couple and do you plan to form one?
This question somewhat haunted the beginnings of “Power Couple.” It’s super pretentious to land there, like this, power couple. We don’t like the commonly shared definition, especially across the Atlantic (a mega-ambitious, ready-for-anything, super-exposed couple who only think about doing business and making money). On the other hand, it is observed that the energy (l power) that binds us in our daily lives, allows us to move mountains in professional life. And that’s what we wanted to tell: for us, a power coupleis a couple in which each of the members is made better by the other… The famous and cheese (but true) 1+1=3. So yeah, under that definition, we’re a power couple.
Feminist circles have understood that intimacy is political, but do you think it is also understood by the general public? And how does your podcast help illustrate this?
No, I don’t think it is perceived by the general public. And this is good because political politics is no longer so meaningful and hopeful. I have the feeling that individuals and communities are taking the relay of world evolutions. In this sense, “Power Couple” is political. Two men, who are in love, who are married, who work together and who interview other couples. I find that there are still few representations of same-sex couples in the public space, and in this I am happy with the message we are conveying.
Do you think that the couple can serve the career and that the career can serve the couple?
YES. The victories of Heroin (our agency) are victories for our duo of partners and for our couple. And the professional adventure we experience every day with the brands we support and our teams are stories that strengthen our relationship as a couple. On the contrary, it is our connection as a couple, the trust we have in each other that leads us to surpass ourselves every day.
Are you afraid that your podcast could put pressure on singles or couples who don’t dream of mixing their professional and sentimental lives at all?
It doesn’t look like we’re giving lessons. We are lucky to be compatible professionally, Rémi and I, but there are as many ways to be happy as there are happy couplesalright then.
How do you respond to people who would reproach you for offering a very capitalist vision of success, which could appear as an injunction to excel at all levels at the same time?
I find success should be a very intimate concept. The only success that matters is making the people you love happy and chasing your dreams. Rémi and I are addicted to projects, and what makes us happy is to carry them out together, surrounded by fantastic people who share our passion. Again we do not give lessons, nor injunctions. There are so many ways to be happy, let’s tell ours and give space to other couples to tell theirs.
Who is the power couple you dream of interviewing?
Léa Salamé and Raphaël Glucksmann. I think there are mostly millions of them power couples which are ignored. We are not all Beyoncé and Jay Z (or Léa Salamé and Raphael Glucksmann).
What is the best love advice you have ever been given in your life or through the podcast?
[Rires.] We haven’t necessarily been surrounded by great love experts in our lives! But all the couples we interviewed speak to us of respect, listening, sincerity and loyalty. It works for us, however.
