Curb Your Enthusiasm director Pens says goodbye to his late wife Linda Weide

Emmy Award-Winning Robert Weide – Lead Director and Executive Producer of Control your enthusiasm for the first five years of the show – wrote a touching farewell to his wife Linda, who died in December. Weide’s tribute was published in the Los Angeles Times and includes poignant descriptions of the “low-maintenance” ways Linda spent her time during the couple’s 28 years together.

Weide writes: “We both appreciated the occasional fine dining and overseas trip, but for a number of years I asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she replied, ‘a grilled cheese sandwich.’

The director also described their first meeting in 1994:

“I went to Café Aroma in Studio City and there she was. She had it all: beauty, style, grace, intelligence, wit, a great laugh, a dazzling smile, and (may I say this in 2023) legs that begged to be shown, and they were. That night I wrote in my journal: “I think I’m in big trouble.” We got married on July 11, 1998.

And he concludes the piece with the words:

“They say: ‘Nothing lasts forever’, but they didn’t know about my love for her. 28 years was not nearly enough. Still, I might be the luckiest SOB who ever lived. Rest well, Bunny. I hope we will be together again.

“For those who never knew her, I’m sorry for your loss.”

Linda Weide appeared as Penelope in the 2001 LA revival of Kurt Vonnegut’s Happy Birthday, Wanda June (after Vonnegut personally requested her to do so). She also has Mindy Reiser in the Control your enthusiasm Episode “The Terrorist Attack”.
