Reel Suspects Boards for Donald Trump-Inspired Dark Comedy “Krump” – EFM

EXCLUSIVE: The Paris-based genre specialist has joined the distribution of the Belgian black comedy shrink about a hapless ex-porn actor who undertakes a seemingly hopeless mission to raise €50,000 when he daughter is kidnapped.

The film is the feature debut of French-born director Cédric Bourgeois, who has long lived in Brussels, following a series of six short films including laura And dream catcher.

Veteran Belgian actor Jean-Benoit Ugeux plays the eponymous Krump, who turns to his former acquaintances in the porn world to raise the ransom in a race against time in the Brussels nightlife underworld.

Other actors are Jean-Jacques Rausin (death by death), Babetida Sadjo (ritual, attraction), stuntwoman and actress Barbara Hellemans (Corset, Dumbo) and Ingrid Heiderscheidt (employee of the month).

Bourgeois and Ugeux, along with director Xavier Seron, co-wrote the script, drawing inspiration from the character of President Donald Trump after he was swept from power in the 2020 election.

Erika Meda and David Borgeaud’s Roue Libre lead actors. Her previous credits include the Sundance 2021 title Mother JewelerS. Co-producers are Philippe Logie (The Pod Generation, titanium), Tanguy Dekeyser (The Pod Generation, Dalva), Sibylle Seys-Smets (16 year old Dalva), Ives Swennen (16 years)

The film had its world premiere at the Brussels International Film Festival last summer and is making its market debut at the EFM.
