Mark Hamill wants to help the Ukrainian military maintain its drone inventory. Mr. So Luke Skywalker will be selling signed posters to raise money.
“We decided to sign Star Wars posters, a limited number,” Hamill told Politico. “For true hardcore collectors – especially those with disposable income – you can get a lot more money…than you might think.”
Details on where the posters will be available are not yet known. Hamill envisions an auction where the competition will drive up the price. Poster sales are scheduled to begin next week.
Hamill said he hasn’t sold any autographed items since 2017 Star Wars: The Last Jedi came out “It’s just not something I do,” he said, claiming he was helping to prolong a war effort he called “downright inspiring.”
Hamill said so war of stars taught him that such gestures “do what is right for the benefit of all, and not just for self-interest”.
Hamill said that he does not downplay the horrors of war. “One is really a fairy tale for children, originally it is something war of stars was before. And the reality, the harsh reality of what is happening in Ukraine, is disturbing.”
The actor says he is “excited” that the United24 fundraising project, a joint venture between the Armed Forces of Ukraine and United24, has grown into this “huge, global event” and says: “I can do anything, no matter how small it is not. something I am committed to.” It has raised more than $353 million to date.
