Stylist’s advice: How to create an all-black look?

At the end of last year, gothcore’s dark aesthetic has taken over the entire fashion world and even more. Jenna Ortega, or rather her character in the TV series Wednesday, was immediately declared guilty of dark madness. After the release of the sensational project (which broke all possible records), the image of the daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams became almost the most quoted in terms of the number of posts on social networks. It seems that not only sloths have learned her dance and have captured an image of her style.

But in fact, it would be dishonest to call Wednesday Addams the culprit of everything, because analysts of a social network that was banned in Russia a year ago analyzed user behavior and predicted that Dark Academia and Goth will be one of the main digital trends in 2022. And as we see now, the guys did their job with the five-plus. At least because the hashtag #darkacademia on TikTok has over three billion views.

And this trend, which has literally saved us from the barbicore biting our teeth, will only grow. That’s why we recommend keeping up with it and trying out a dramatic all-black look as soon as possible. How? To begin with, it is worth remembering a simple rule: total black style is not a single black shapeless mass, but an opportunity to create a unique wardrobe with shape, texture, character and your own mood! In order not to get lost in the crowd, there are three rules for driving along my route.

Architectural

In skillful hands, completely black images will become a magic wand and will give you the opportunity to create your figure. Get the structural pieces that will give you the shape you want in your wardrobe. Jackets with a solid architecture, such as the narrow-waisted Balenciaga or the deliberately broad-shouldered Osome2some, will help with this.

Black images do not tolerate boredom. A monotonous bow will become more voluminous if you add colorful active accessories. For example, jewelry, glasses, bags of an unusual shape or accent shoes. My favorite Thom Browne bag in dachshund shape always spoils the solid look with its naive shape, but black is not your toy.

Mixing different textures in a single arc will keep it from turning into a shapeless mass. Feel free to combine tulle, feathers, leather, knitwear, fur, tassels and sequins in the images. Any option is welcome here. The harder the better, you can’t go wrong!

By the way, it is worth remembering that black is a bright color. As soon as you realize that several tones have already been deleted, take serious measures: feel free to drop or transfer this thing to the gray category.

Another important point to remember. It is better to leave it completely black only for clothes and maintain neutrality in make-up. A light make-up will suffice for every day – clean, radiant skin and light mascara, but for appropriate events, leave heavy smokes and thick arrows.
