Andrew Tate today lost his appeal against a decision to detain him for 30 days on sex trafficking charges, meaning he will remain in custody until February 27.
Tate (36) was arrested in December along with his brother Tristan on suspicion of human trafficking, rape and the formation of an organized crime group to exploit women.
He appeared in court in Bucharest today with Tristan and two of her alleged accomplices to try to appeal against a judge’s decision to extend her detention for a second time by 30 days.
But all four lost their appeals and will be held for the full 30 days, said Ramona Bolla, a spokeswoman for Romania’s anti-organized crime organization DIICOT.
The decision came later Tate told the Romanian court that he was “held in custody to make me mentally ill”.

As Tate, along with his brother and their two alleged accomplices, were escorted out of the Bucharest appeals court, he shouted to reporters: “You will soon learn the truth about this case.”
The notorious misogynist insisted there is “no evidence” that he exploits young girls and forces them to create pornographic content on webcams.
“Ask them for evidence and they won’t give you any because it doesn’t exist,” Tate shouted as he was escorted from court to a police van. “You will soon discover the truth of this matter.”
Tate, Tristan and their two alleged accomplices, former police officers Luana Radu and Georgiana Naghel, were all in court today to appeal a judge’s decision to extend their detention a second time.
But the judges today dismissed the appeal, meaning they remain in prison 27 February.
Last month, a judge decided to extend their detention by 20 days because the accused were “particularly vulnerable” and could identify victims “with increased vulnerability who are looking for better life chances”.
Prosecutors said the Tate brothers recruited their victims by seducing them and falsely claiming they wanted a relationship or marriage.
The victims were then taken to properties on the outskirts of the capital, Bucharest, and forced to produce pornographic content for social media sites, which yielded huge financial gains, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors can ask the courts to extend suspects’ detention by up to 180 days.
As he was escorted to court earlier this morning, Tate told reporters, “You know I’m an incident.”
Asked if he hoped to be released on Wednesday, he said: “There is not much justice in Romania.”

The brothers and alleged “lieutenants” Naghel and Radu are detained in Romania.
They received a precautionary arrest warrant on 30 December 2022 and have since been held by the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) in Romania, where both are based.
Prosecutors initially argued that if the brothers were released on bail, they could exercise “psychological control” over the people they were accused of trafficking.
Both protested their innocence.
On February 20, the Bucharest Tribunal extended the preventive detention order from January 29 to February 27 and may be extended further.
The Tate brothers lost their first overtime appeal last month and lost their second appeal today.
The four detainees have not yet been officially charged with any crime and have maintained their innocence.
Andrew and his brother moved into a converted warehouse in Romania in 2017, which they staffed with armed guards.
In their hideout on the outskirts of Bucharest, the Tate brothers operated a video chat studio where several women were found in a police raid in April 2022.
Prosecutors allege that the brothers lured women to the studio where they were sexually exploited through “acts of physical violence and psychological coercion (through harassment, constant surveillance, control and recourse to alleged guilt)” and forced to produce and display pornographic material. Andrew Tate’s views on women, masculinity and entrepreneurship, expressed on podcasts and shared online, became popular in 2022 when they were shared in short clips on social media.

While Tate maintains his innocence, Romanian prosecutors told DIICOT in a statement that they had identified six victims in the human trafficking case.
