A British tourist had part of her finger bitten off by a Russian woman after rowing over a bean bag chair on a beach in Thailand.
The 42-year-old victim, identified by German media as Angelina H., was attacked by the Russian tourist while on vacation on the island of Ko Phangan.
The couple were arguing over whether Angelina could use a free bean bag on the beach when the Russian, identified as Vavara G., 32, grabbed the Briton’s hand and bit off the tip of her middle finger.
Angelina’s friend, former German fencer Monika Sozanska (39), was with her at the time and watched the attack, describing it as “something straight out of a horror movie”.

The 42-year-old victim, identified by German media as Angelina H., was attacked by the Russian tourist while on holiday on the island of Ko Phangan
Sozanska said she and Angelina were looking for an empty seat on a beach on the Thai island when they found an empty bean bag next to a couple nearby.
Sozanska, who attended the London 2012 Summer Olympics, told Bild newspaper: “It was 1.30pm on Saturday when Angelina’s dog and I found a spot at the ‘Koh Raham’ beach club for a fresh coconut. to have to enjoy.
“Then we saw an empty beanbag chair next to a young couple.”
She said the situation escalated when Vavara G. turned down Angelina’s request to use the bean bag. Angelina was only allowed to take the bean bag after a waiter intervened.
Sozanska explained that Vavara G. then ran towards Angelina and attacked both her and her dog before the Briton fought back.
Sozanska said: “Angelina hit her on the forehead. The woman disappeared for a moment, but came back angrier.’
She took Angelina’s hand and bit into it. Then she spat out the bitten phalanx and smiled. The blood just spurted out. It was like something out of a horror movie.”

Angelina’s friend, former German fencer Monika Sozanska, 39 (pictured), was with her at the time watching the attack unfold, describing it as “something out of a horror movie”.

The couple were arguing over whether Angelina could use a free bean bag on the beach when the Russian, identified as Vavara G. (32), (pictured) grabbed the Briton’s hand and bit off the tip of her middle finger.
While Sozanska tried to dig the path of her finger out of the sand while trying to comfort her petrified friend, Vavara G. and her unnamed partner tried to flee, but were immediately caught by the nearby police.
Vavara G. was only carrying a photo of her passport, so police officers asked her to take her documents from her hotel to a local office. But the couple had already fled by plane to neighboring Malaysia.
Angelina was taken to a hospital on the neighboring island of Koh Samui but was flown to the UK shortly afterwards for confirmation surgery.
Monika said: “Doctors are now trying to save the finger and prevent amputation through a special procedure called wrapping.”
Dentistry professor Florian Beuer (48) from the Charité University Hospital in Berlin, explained that people transmit less force with the front teeth than with the side teeth.
Then he suspected that biting off the fingertip must also have been painful for the Russian. “Our teeth are not designed for such forces,” Beuer said.
