A new musical adaptation of the classic 1962 film Days of wine and roses will have its world premiere Off Broadway in May in an Atlantic Theater Company production starring Kelli O’Hara and Brian d’Arcy James in the roles made famous by Jack Lemmon and Lee Remick.
With a book by Craig Lucas (Foreshadowing a kiss, longtime companion) and music and lyrics by Adam Guettel (FloydCollins), Days of wine and roses begins previews at the Linda Gross Theater on Friday, May 5 for a limited time through Sunday, June 25. Michael Griffin (Dear Evan Hansen, except normal) direct.
Additional cast and an opening date will be announced at a later date.
Adapted from JP Miller’s 1962 Blake Edwards film and the original 1958 teleplay, chronicling a young couple’s downward spiral into alcoholism, Days of wine and roses is the first collaboration between Lucas and Guettel since their award-winning musical The light on the piazzawhich opened on Broadway in 2005.

O’Hara won a Tony Award for her performance in 2015 Me and the king and has numerous other stage credits including Madison County Bridges and Good job if you can get it amongst other things. TV credits are included The Gilded Age and Blue bloodand film work Sex and the city 2.
James has been nominated for Tony three times Something Rotten, Shrek the Musical, and Sweet flavor of success) and recently starred in the Broadway revival of In the forest as The Baker. Movie credits are included headlight and the 2021 West side story.
