An Argentine farmer has grown a massive 124-hectare statue of Lionel Messi visible from space after planting a specially designed cornfield to celebrate the star’s exploits at the World Cup.

Maximiliano Spinazze used an algorithm that calculated where to plant the seed in his land in Los Condores, in central Argentina’s Cordoba province.

The result was a large image of Messi’s bearded face visible from space. The incredible tribute to the great footballer comes after he helped Argentina to a famous World Cup victory over France in Qatar.

“For me, Messi is unbeatable,” said Spinazze, the pawn who planted the unusual formation.

“They are now world champions. I am happy that this can be reflected in the sowing.”

“I had the idea to make a code that would go into the seeders with Messi’s face as a tribute,” he said, adding that he then made the code available to all the farmers “who dared to plant it”.

Using geocoding tools, the machine knows how much seed per square meter to place in specific locations to create contrast for different parts of Messi’s face, Faricelli said.

“So when this corn is growing and you take an aerial photo where the plants are closer together and the soil is less visible, a more intense green contrasts where there are fewer plants and that’s when this kind of agricultural art comes out.”

The pawn isn’t the only fan showing his love for Lionel Messi.

A dedicated soccer fanatic paid his unique tribute to the World Cup hero by having the Argentina captain’s face shaved off the back of his head.

The beautiful “Hair Tattoo” creation was performed by Antonio, known as Anton Barber, in the Dominican Republic.

The images show the uncanny resemblance to the world champion captain, whose beard and haircut are even shaved to the back of the customer’s head.
