America’s Funniest Home Videos Creator Vin Di Bona has sold a majority stake in his eponymous production company and FishBowl Worldwide Media to an investor group led by Clarion Capital Partners.
Di Bona will remain CEO of both companies, which will be integral parts of Clarion-backed V10 Entertainment. V10 is led by CEO John Stevens, founder of Zoo Productions and Hangar 56 Media, and president Hans Schiff, a former unscripted agent at CAA.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but sources familiar with the deal said it was in the nine-figure range, a healthy amount given the current unfavorable macroeconomic conditions. The official announcement of the deal says it will give Di Bona’s companies “access to significant capital,” which they plan to use to expand their family-friendly scale to include new traditional and digital nonfiction titles. Clarion has previously invested in media and entertainment companies such as Imax and Premiere Digital, a provider of cloud-based technology for digital asset delivery and content optimization.
