We see anything and everything on TikTok, but sometimes the short videos that abound allow us to set the record straight, including lifestyle habits that can be common sense that we quickly overlook. Among the latest viral beauty finds, Emelia O’Toole, alias @ProfessorPerfume on Google’s most consulted Chinese social network, underlines how too many people don’t know how to properly store their perfume at home:
“If you keep your perfume in the bathroom, when you take a shower, all the steam, all the constant temperature fluctuations will ruin your perfume much faster than if you store it properly. »

Because keeping your perfume in the bathroom is the best way to keep it active
This may seem obvious to people who take the time to read product directions for use, as it often stipulates: ” Store in a cool, dry place, away from light and humidity. But, given the 5.2 million views, 500,000 likes and over 4,000 comments, this information has been a discovery for many people.
In fact, the heat of the baths can alter the top notes of a perfume, which can therefore become more acidic, or completely imperceptible. Worse yet: the fact that the bathroom can change temperature dramatically depending on whether you’re a fan of long, hot showers, can create condensation effects that will seep into the bottle or cause unwanted chemical reactions.
Where to store perfume at home so that it is stored for a long time?

To avoid turning your favorite perfume around, the ideal is to keep it in a cool, dry place, away from light and humidity (as stated above). So, edging a window so that the sun’s rays make nice reflections through the glass of your bottle is also an idea to banish. As beautiful as it is, your fragrance will keep less well when displayed on a shelf, even behind a window (which can have a greenhouse effect with UV rays), than in a closed wardrobe or drawer in the hallway or bedroom. Indeed, it is in the shade that the most beautiful perfumes remain in bloom for the longest time.
