A Russian free climber has rocked the social media world after she posted a stunning clip of herself on the edge of the world’s second tallest building.
Angela Nikolau, 29, climbed the 2,227-foot Merdeka Tower in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with her boyfriend Ivan Beerkus. She said it was “the most beautiful skyscraper” she had ever visited.
The video accompanying the report shows her dressed in red, her legs dangling over the side of the tower and playfully sunbathing, with the sprawling cityscape below her.
Nikolau and Beerkus are known for climbing tall buildings and taking selfies with them all over the world.

Angela Nikolau (29) (pictured) climbed the 700 meter Merdeka Tower in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with her boyfriend Ivan Beerkus. She said it was “the most beautiful skyscraper” she had ever visited
Nikolau wrote on Twitter: “I fell in love with the Merdeka 118 tower as soon as I saw it. I immediately felt a spiritual connection. Such a majestic building in the middle of a wonderful city – I had to discover it and share the view with others.”
She added: “I started the mission. I wore a hijab, glasses and a construction uniform to look as inconspicuous as possible. I ran the first 32 floors and overheated. I had to lie naked on the concrete floor to cool down a bit. I drank all the water I had.”
Nikolau also noted that she rented an apartment with a good view of the tower so she could guard the building. She spent several weeks researching details that would help her rise.
Nikolau posted more photos and videos of her Merdeka Tower adventure on Instagram.

In one post, she wrote: “I climbed the second tallest building in the world – the MERDEKA TOWER! It is the most beautiful skyscraper I have ever been to.”
Another post shows her in a yoga-like pose atop the tower as the camera zooms out to reveal an impressive view of the skyscrapers and mountainous backdrop.
A third post shows her posing on top of the tower and playing with her hair.
Nikolaus Instagram account is full of glamorous photos of their activities.
On her social accounts, she describes herself as “the most extreme roofer girl in the world inspired by art and heights,” as well as an extreme creator and painter.
Nikolau told MailOnline: “As an artist I’ve always been drawn to futuristic, epic skyscrapers like this.”
About her plans for this year, she said: “I want to continue making art on the roofs of the world and put together a solo show. I also want to go to Paris with my grandmother and show her the Eiffel Tower: as a tourist of course, not as a roofer.”
Malaysian police said in December they were investigating Nikolau and Beerkus for trespassing.
According to the developer, the 118-storey Merdeka Tower should be ready by mid-2023. A hotel will be built on the top 17 floors.
PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd CEO Tengku Datuk Ab Aziz Tengku Mahmud said in August: “The offices may move first while the hotel moves [ready] until the third quarter of next year.”
The building is dwarfed only by the 850 meter high Burj Khalifa in Dubai, which opened January 4, 2010.
