French footballer Benjamin Mendy pleaded not guilty to six rapes

After a 5-month hearing and 13 days of deliberation on charges of six rapes and a sexual assault, French footballer and world champion Benjamin Mendy was found not guilty on January 13, 2023 in the United Kingdom.

The verdict just fell: not guilty. 28-year-old French footballer Benjamin Mendy had been in the dock in the UK for several months on several counts, including six rapes and a sexual assault. For the latter he was found not guilty on January 13, 2023 by the court of Chester, in the north of England.

As reported AFP extension transmitted by Information about France, another man was implicated in the case: Louis Saha Matturie was also in the dock, suspected of having served as a tout and participating in some rapes. He was found not guilty on three of them and the jury failed to return a verdict on three others, as well as three sexual assaults.

But it’s not all over yet as Benjamin Mendy will be retried on June 26 for another rape and an attempted rape.
