Hallie Jackson’s MSNBC show ends next month as she adds an hour to her daily NBC News Now schedule.
The move is part of a series of changes MSNBC announced Thursday. Chris Jansing adds an hour to her anchoring duties when Chris Jansing reports will be extended to two hours from 1:00 PM ET to 3:00 PM ET. Katy Tur reports will be moved to 3 p.m.
Meanwhile, Jose Diaz-Balart’s show moves back an hour to 11 a.m. ET, with a rotating lineup of hosts at 10 a.m. until a permanent anchor is named. Andrea Mitchell reports continues at noon ET.
The changes will take effect on February 13.
Jackson started Hallie Jackson reports anchored on MSNBC in September 2021 and earlier MSNBC Live from 2016 at 10 am.
She started Hallie Jackson now on NBC News Now in November 2021, doing double duty as the network expanded its programming on the streaming network.
Further changes will be made to the weekend schedule, with Katie Phang beginning live programming at 8:00 PM ET. The Jonathan Capehart Show will air Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m. ET, and Ali Velshi will anchor both days from 10 a.m. to noon. The changes will take effect on February 18. Variety was the first to report the latest changes.
Rival CNN announced an overhaul of its daytime program earlier this week, with a format of three anchors in three-hour blocks of morning and afternoon shows.
Earlier Thursday, NBC News and MSNBC made a series of layoffs that affected a “double-digit” number of employees out of 3,500, according to a source. According to the source, the job losses are spread across the broadcasters and are the result of targeted program and editorial changes.
MSNBC president Rashida Jones wrote in a memo to employees that the changes “will strengthen our lineup and better position the network for future success.”
Janelle Rodriguez, executive vice president of NBC News Now, wrote to staff: “Over the past year, Hallie has built a loyal audience with her fast-paced newscast that kicks off our live primetime block. This new development is a natural extension for Hallie, as it expands her role at NBC News.”
