We should educate our sons as we educate our daughters, not the other way around

We should educate our sons as we educate our daughters, not the other way around

When kids find themselves alone with each other, it’s chaos. The girls are doing very well. So if we value education for once, does it deserve it?

Men are more efficient and cause less confusion. Oh really ? In 2002, an experiment broadcast on Channel 4 brought together ten boys and then ten girls in a house where the two groups lived respectively for a week without supervision.

If this experiment has been making a lot of noise for a few weeks, it’s because it looks at a still very current problem: girls and boys are not educated in the same way and this gender education has an extreme influence on the behavior of children.

His majesty of the flies, the remake

In the 2002 experiment, ten 11- and 12-year-old boys gathered in a house to spend a week together without supervision. In a few days, their lodgings were completely devastated. Despite the previous cooking lessons, the children eat only snacks and drinks. Socially the atmosphere is conflicted and two groups clash, even though a common scapegoat has been designated. In short, it is a fiasco and little boys are unable to look after themselves.

Secondly, ten girls are brought together under the same conditions. This time the girls cook for each other, eat together, seated at the table, and spontaneously clean their cutlery.

They distribute household chores using a rotation system, and also think about washing. If they also paint on the walls, they don’t destroy, they decorate. They organize collective games and generally support each other. Sure, there are arguments and teasing. Some even asked to go home during the experiment, but overall, these children are able to take care of themselves and make their community work.

The difference between boys and girls? their education

Although this experience has distant origins, it is still widely commented on social networks and the gender mechanisms it reveals are still current. Little girls are still encouraged from an early age to care for others and their environment. Young boys, on the other hand, are conditioned to think only of themselves and focus on activities labeled as masculine.

Yet they are the ones who are valued and who will later be regarded as the natural leaders of our society. Conversely, those who receive the education that shows the best results in terms of survival, organization and coexistence will be considered second-class citizens and their social skills will be minimized, if not ridiculed.

This experience illustrates phenomena of which we were aware, such as the deleterious impact of gender education. It proves to us once again that not only are our educational methods toxic, but that women and the education they receive would be perfectly suited to positions of power. Simply put, if we want our children to be able to fend for themselves without hitting each other and build the pacifist society of tomorrow, we just need to educate them as girls.
