Watch an 18-year-old snowboarder wipe out skiers, hospitalize four…while hitting the slopes! Thrill-seeker loses footing on Austrian T-bar, crashes into victims before arrest

A teenage snowboarder took four people to hospital last week when he fell down a mountain and crashed into oncoming skiers with a tow lift before fleeing the scene.

The 18-year-old Hungarian thrill-seeker was riding the Rosencrantz lift at Austria’s Kreischberg ski resort on Wednesday when the crossbar, which pulled riders up the slope, slipped between his legs.

The unidentified snowboarder first managed to hold the pole with his hands to avoid a fall, but by the time the lift reached its steepest point, the teenager could no longer hold on. He slipped out of the elevator and started sliding down the slope again.

He narrowly avoided hitting another snowboarder riding behind him but was unable to brake, quickly picking up speed and rushing towards the terrified skiers, who were unable to stop the swinging boundary from hurtling towards them .

Four skiers were injured in the collisions, one of whom suffered trauma so severe that it warranted the use of a rescue helicopter, which took the victim off the slopes and flew him to a nearby hospital in Friesach.

Three others were able to climb down the mountain alone but were later taken to hospital for treatment.

But instead of staying to help the sick skiers, the offending skier decided to flee.

According to Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung, the angry skiers reported the incident to the Murau police command’s mountain service, which launched a search for the perpetrator and arrested him a few hours later on Wednesday.

It is unclear what penalties the snowboarder faces or whether Air plans to press charges – MailOnline has contacted authorities at the Kreischberg resort for comment.

Clips of the incident posted on social media angered skiers, who detained the snowboarder for his actions and his inability to ride the tow lift.

But several snowboarders jumped to the kid’s defense, pointing out that the T-shaped bar is perfectly designed for skiers to sit on, but puts snowboarders in a weak and physically demanding position during the lift.

“I’ve been snowboarding for over 15 years and I still notice these things sometimes,” wrote one user.

“I’m 30 and I’ve been snowboarding since I was 10 and I still struggle with it,” said another.
