Roman Polanski is in the process of producing a new film Building In Switzerland.
The drama, which takes place on New Year’s Eve 1999 in a luxury hotel, describes the lives of the hotel workers and various guests.
Filming ten days ago was confirmed by actor Mickey Rourke, who is involved in the project. The actor posted a photo on Instagram where he said: “In the end, once again, it’s a great pleasure to work with the legendary and talented Roman Polanski. I think it’s a great privilege to work with such a director, because his film has so much integrity, style, class and unpredictability … Switzerland is a wonderful country.
The project was first announced last year by Italian broadcaster Rai as part of its plan. Italian actor and producer Luka Barbareski is the lead producer through his company Eliseo Entertainment. CAB Productions is a Swiss co-producer. The script is based on Polanski and fellow Polish veteran Jerzy Skolimowski. The rest of the actors have not yet been confirmed.
We were trying to confirm whether the film would be sold on the leather market for Rai or any other sales company. Many sources have told us they believe the film will be sold or co-produced by a French sales company, in Cannes and beyond. The project is not mentioned on the Rai, Luca Barbareschi or CAB sites and no company responds to the update request.
Polanski, director, among others Pianist, Chinatown Y baby rosemary, remains lightning fast in the industry and beyond controversy. After learning that the judge would refuse the plea bargain and was sentenced to prison instead of parole, he fled to Paris. As a result, Polanski fled the United States.
