The fourth season of Stranger Things ended with a wild abyss that shrouded Max’s fate with a veil of mystery. Sadie Sink, who plays the brave redhead girl, is also worried about the final fifth season, life after that, and what will happen to Max (proper, spoilers).

Sadie visited the show Today with Hoda and Jenna and discussed all these issues. Like everyone else, the actor is almost completely unaware of what’s going to happen to him: “We know this is happening and this is the last season, so I’m sure it will be emotional. No spoilers, just considering how my character streak ended in Season 4, I have no idea what’s going to happen. But I’ll be there.” (There is hope!)
20-year-old Sadie, who has played Max since she was 14, is already emotional about the end of the series as she looks ahead: “It’s going to be scary. It will be terrible. These guys, all the cast and crew are one family. People say this all the time, but I mean it really sincerely. And to think we should say goodbye to that security and the knowledge that we’ll be seeing each other next season? It’s scary and sad, but I think it’s exciting to move on to the next chapter.”

Recall that season four ended with Max Mayfield falling into a coma after he was nearly killed by the villain Vecna. Although Vecna was temporarily defeated, he inflicted several serious, nearly fatal wounds on Max before being rescued by Odie. Viewers last saw Max lying unconscious in a hospital bed, surrounded by his friends. We hope that the strong and brave Max will do well.
