A fire engulfed a Russian military base in Moscow earlier this morning and raged for more than four hours.
The fire at an army facility east of the capital comes amid a spate of mysterious infernos with suspicions that sabotage – linked to the war in Ukraine – is a cause of some of them.
‘The fire broke out in the garage boxes of Sokolinaya Gora 3, building 10,” emergency services told the Moskva news agency. “Moscow emergency services are working on the scene.”
A video on the Readovka news forum showed smoke rising from the military facility.

The city fire department confirmed a report of the fire just before midnight.
The Department of Defense did not comment on the fire.
It is unclear whether the military unit has anything to do with the war in Ukraine.

It came a day after a mysterious fire struck Vladimir Putin’s only aircraft carrier while the ship was being repaired from a previous inferno.
The ill-fated Admiral Kuznetsov was docked at the Zvyozdochka shipyard in Murmansk for repairs when fire broke out on the troubled ship.
The fire broke out in the port cabins of the Russian Navy’s flagship, which also caught fire in 2019.
Today’s fire could further delay Admiral Kuznetsov’s return to active duty.
The burned-out aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov was hit by another fire this week while undergoing repairs in Murmansk.
Last week there were also two explosions and large infernos at large power plants in the Irkutsk region.
Armageddon-like flames shot into the sky from a massive fire at the Markovskoye condensing plant in the bitter cold of minus 22C. The trigger for the infernal scene was the “jet fire” in the eastern Siberian district of Ust-Kut.
And three days earlier, at least seven people were injured in an explosion in Angarsk. The force of the explosion has been compared to an earthquake or a plane crash.
Separately, a massive explosion hit a major Russian gas pipeline about 560 miles from the Ukrainian border.
The cause was unclear, but videos showed a massive fireball burning in Chuvashia.
The pipeline carries gas from Russia to Europe through Ukraine, initial reports show.
