Reality television stars Keira Maguire and Alex Nation have ended their decade-long feud after reuniting on the new season of Channel 10's reality series The Traitors. Speaking to Daily Mail Australia at the Sydney launch of the show last week, the pair confirmed that filming together helped them move past their bitter history.
Maguire and Nation first clashed nearly ten years ago on the 2016 season of The Bachelor Australia featuring Richie Strahan. Nation quickly became an early frontrunner after receiving Strahan's first white rose of the series, drawing frustration from Maguire, who became known as the season's outspoken villain.
Inside the mansion, Maguire accused Nation of playing a game and questioned her connection with Strahan. Nation responded by criticizing Maguire's competitive behavior and public attacks.
The rivalry persisted long after their season ended, with both women taking public swipes at each other in media interviews and across social media platforms. At one point, Maguire publicly accused Nation of using her sexuality for attention and television ratings.
A feud on The Bachelor
Almost a decade after their initial meeting, both women admitted they can no longer recall the exact details of how their conflict began. Maguire told Daily Mail Australia that age and distance changed her perspective on the rivalry.
"We're a lot older than when we first went on TV. Like it's been 10 years, even since we first met," Maguire said. "Like I actually forgot why we were fighting."
Nation echoed the sentiment, explaining that time allowed them to form mutual respect. "It's nice because 10 years have passed, we've grown into the women that we are now, and I think we respected each other for who we were as women now," Nation said.
Maguire joked that their current dynamic resembles family. "I also say, like, she's like family to me, I can't get rid of her," Maguire said. "You don't choose your family. No, but seriously, I say that as a joke, but I genuinely mean it. I feel like you feel like family. I know that sounds a bit cliché."
Reuniting on The Traitors
Nation stated that working together on The Traitors played a key role in mending their relationship. However, neither woman expects to agree on the exact events of their past feud, and neither offered an apology.
"I didn't apologise for anything... we agreed to disagree that we all had our own version of the truth," Maguire explained. Nation agreed, adding, "I feel like if we tried to like apologise for things would go round and round in circles."
Beyond resolving their feud, Maguire and Nation discussed the cosmetic treatments they maintain, as well as procedures they refuse to undergo. Nation keeps her routine simple, admitting to getting Botox, Hydrafacials, and maintaining a flattering hair color while revealing she has never had filler.
Maguire, who previously had a breast enhancement and lip filler, explained that she would never do filler now. Instead, she focuses on natural feature enhancement, saying, "I feel like I probably am more focused on biostimulators, like anything that's more like natural producing collagen, because I have collagen naturally, but anything that enhances your natural features."
Opposition to rib contouring surgery
Both women also addressed the controversial Barbie waist trend, also known as rib contouring surgery. The extreme body-modification procedure has gained attention after Australian reality figures, including Married At First Sight star Bec Zacharia and former Bachelor Australia contestant Monique Morley, traveled to Bali to undergo the operation.
The trend has sparked widespread debate regarding cosmetic risks and altering natural anatomy. Both Maguire and Nation voiced strong opposition to removing ribs for aesthetic reasons.
"I would not remove my ribs for anybody. Just get a little bit of liposuction!" Maguire said. "It sounds painful. I mean, I'm up for like whatever but that's where I draw the line."
Nation added that raising a daughter influenced her views on social media pressure and beauty standards. "But also I have a daughter and I think beauty standards, and especially social media, it can be a vicious beast and, like, I'm raising a daughter, I would want her to be happy in her own skin," Nation said.
"I mean, I get Botox, that makes me happy, that makes me feel good in myself. I get facials, that makes me happy," Nation continued. "But you know, going as far as like contorting your natural anatomy, I just think that that's dangerous."
The Traitors premieres on Channel 10 at 7.30pm on Tuesday.
