Academy Award winning actor Ke Huy Quan will star in Lionsgate's action thriller titled Fairytale in New York, also listed as A Tale of New York. Quan is known for his roles in The Goonies, Everything everywhere and everything at once, and Loki.
Jalmari Helander, director of Sisu, will direct the film, with Lionsgate launching international sales at AFM. Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, collaborators on the DC superhero photo Black Adam, wrote the screenplay. Beau Flynn of FlynnPictureCo. will produce the movie.
Christmas Eve Plot Details
Fairytale in New York takes place on Christmas Eve in New York City. The film follows an unassuming taxi driver taking one last ride before going to celebrate the holidays with his estranged son. After an encounter with a gang of criminals, he embarks on a relentless quest to recover his son's priceless Christmas present.
Adam Fogelson, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, released a statement about working with the team. "As soon as we looked Sisuwe knew Jalmari was a director we wanted to work with again," Fogelson said. "Fairytale in New York is an incredibly fun and exciting action film and an emotionally powerful story about family."
Fogelson praised Quan's contributions to the project. "And every now and then, an actor reaches his peak: Ke Huy Quan is having that moment right now, and his deep experience in creating action in front of and behind the camera, as well as his exceptional likability, make him the perfect actor to this project," Fogelson said.
Quan can be seen next in the action film Love hurts in theaters February 7, 2025.
