Fairmount Foods recalls tens of thousands of Kidfresh pasta products after customers experienced an “adverse reaction” to an undeclared allergen

More than 300,000 packages of frozen children’s pasta are being recalled because they can cause a fatal allergic reaction.

Fairmont Foods is asking customers to return 147,000 pounds of its nationally sold Kidfresh Spaghetti Loops with Meat Sauce product.

A routine check revealed that the product contained eggs, which are not listed on the label but can cause anaphylaxis in allergy sufferers.

At least one customer has already reported an adverse reaction after eating the noodles, although he recovered.

The above item is being recalled and customers will be offered a full refund

Trader Joe’s is recalling food because it contains DEFECTS

Two Trader Joe’s products were recalled because they contained more than just food.

Research shows that 33 million Americans have an egg allergy, including nearly one in fifty children, where the allergy is most common.

Patients who eat eggs may experience hives, itching and rashes in milder cases.

However, severe reactions can lead to anaphylaxis – when the immune system overreacts and causes breathing and circulation problems. It can be fatal.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) ordered the recall after the labeling error came to light.

Fairmont Foods discovered the labeling error during a routine inspection of its products, the company said.

They said their pasta supplier had recently changed its formula to one containing eggs, but the label had not been updated.

The misbranded Kidfresh Spaghetti Loops were manufactured between December 2022 and August 2023.

They were sold in three US states: Georgia, Indiana and Texas.

The affected products can be identified by the expiry date printed on the side of the packaging, which ranges from April to December 2024.

They also carry the bundle codes: FF120722, FF011823, FF021623, FF032323, FF042623, FF071923 or FF081023.

Customers are urged to discard the frozen pasta immediately or return it to the store for a full refund.

Patients with egg allergies experience an overreaction of their immune system when they ingest egg whites.

It is not clear what causes the allergies, but it has previously been linked to genetics and living in a more polluted environment.
