Chris Hughes was admitted to hospital in critical condition.

Fear: Chris Hughes has been hospitalized due to a terrible health crisis

Chris said that although he thought he was “sweating out” the toxins, he was instead “torturing his body”.

Chris shared a photo of himself in a hospital gown connected to an IV and said a sip of water made him feel nauseous.

He wrote: “Basically all my antics on Saturday caused this. When I wrote about running that 4k, I wasn’t actually hung over on Sunday and Monday, but I was “chronically dehydrated and had alcoholic hepatitis”…(not cool, not at all) where my liver was essentially damaged is and is unable to digest the alcohol and blood tests have also shown this.’

He added: “Our NHS is incredibly good as we know. They have been thorough and over the top kind, which for me is the perfect combination. I haven’t managed to drink water so I’m on this drip, a sip of water makes me nauseous.

‘I’m exhausted. I learned my lesson. However, my problem is pretty clear.

“I went for a run on Sunday and on Monday I went to class and did a 45-minute circuit, burned 550 calories and then went to the sauna to sweat again for 45 minutes. I thought I was going to eliminate the alcohol, but I was actually just torturing my body.”

What is alcoholic hepatitis?

Alcoholic hepatitis is inflammation of the liver caused by alcohol consumption

The most common sign of alcoholic hepatitis is yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes (jaundice).

Other signs and symptoms include:

  • loss of appetite
  • nausea and vomiting
  • tenderness of the abdomen
  • Fever, often low grade
  • fatigue and weakness

The liver damage associated with mild alcoholic hepatitis is usually reversible if you stop drinking permanently.

However, severe alcoholic hepatitis is a serious and life-threatening condition.
