An artist plagued by severe back pain claims sex toys have helped where drugs have failed.
Rebecca Evans from Llwyncelyn, Wales suffers from both degenerative disc disease and arthritis.
But she claims sexual stimulation helped ease her discomfort.
The 51-year-old was so excited by the success of the treatment that she now has a company making her own ceramic dildos, including one in the shape of former US President Donald Trump.
Rebecca Evans said that using dildos reduced the pain and discomfort of back ailments and arthritis

The 51-year-old artist was so amazed by the power of sex toys that she now makes them her own

Ms Evans said that although she did not use a sex toy all day, it improved her sleep and mental health, and made her pain-free for hours
HOW CAN USING SEXTOYS RELIEVE YOUR PAIN?
Sexual activity, whether with a partner or alone, can reduce pain, scientists say.
When the body responds to sexual stimulation, blood flow to certain parts of the body increases.
This increased flow of oxygen and heat can help relieve pain.
A second way sexual activity can reduce pain is through the hormones and chemicals released during orgasm.
These include endorphins, natural chemicals called endorphins that have pain-relieving properties.
Mrs. Evans, a ceramicist, said: “You helped a lot with my pain and that was the beginning.”
She added that she wants to banish the perception of sex toys as objects of depravity and instead view them as tools of well-being.
“I want to nurture them for good and not just for fun,” she said.
“People are more aware that they’re not one of those nasty things to talk about – but there’s still a taboo around sex toys and there really shouldn’t be.”
Ms Evans said she was proof that opening up to sexual healing can change your life.
“The first time I used it, I was pain free for two hours,” she said. “Unfortunately you can’t use it all day, but it also helps my sleep and mental health.
“I’ve had spinal surgeries because I have spinal disease, a knee was replaced last year and I have a lot of arthritis.
“Before all this started, I was pretty much in lockdown, nowhere to go and nothing to do.”
She said she tried all kinds of methods to ease her pain, including physical therapy, medication and even Reiki healing, but sex toys worked best.
The artist’s claims may seem strange, but they are at least partially backed by science.
Sexual activity, whether with a partner or through masturbation, increases blood flow, especially to the lower parts of the body, which can help relieve pain.
And orgasm, and sex in general, releases a flood of natural chemicals called endorphins, which have pain-relieving properties.

She had unusual orders, including a dildo with the face of former US President Donald Trump and a mushroom
This may help with a condition such as degenerative disc disease, where flexible discs between the vertebrae of the spine wear away, causing the bones themselves to rub against each other, causing pain and discomfort.
The condition can be caused by normal aging, repetitive damage from activities such as heavy lifting, or from a single serious injury such as a car accident, although the severity can vary from patient to patient.
Ms Evans has become such an advocate of sex toys that she has now launched her own line – made from clay.
“It’s opened up a new avenue in my life and I’m not getting rich selling them, but I want to do it as long as possible,” she said.

Another unusual request was for an eggplant-shaped dildo. Ms Evans also said she wanted to help change people’s perceptions of dildos
“It is a drug-free, very pleasant experience that I would like to share with other people.”
She sells the sex toys on her Facebook page ‘Dildoramic’ – she now makes them in custom shapes and sizes.
And Ms Evans said she had some strange requests, including a dildo with Mr Trump’s face on it.
“I had a request to do one with Donald Trump’s face on it, I made one in the shape of a mushroom and another in the shape of an eggplant,” she said.
She said the material was safe to use as a sex toy: “Stone stuff is non-porous once it’s fired and it’s very, very strong – you can drop it on the floor and it won’t break.”
“People don’t know that dildos were originally pieces of stone and then clay, they have been used for centuries.
“I use them myself so I know how good and sturdy they are. I won’t sell anything that could possibly cause harm and everyone has a letter telling them how to take care of it.”
