Several supporters compared his appearance to Queen singer Freddie Mercury, calling him the Freddie Mercury of sertanejo, while others admitted they failed to recognize the country star without his familiar beard.
Gusttavo Lima is one of the biggest commercial powerhouses in Brazilian sertanejo, a style of country music that dominates the nation's airwaves and streaming platforms. Known for his romantic ballads and high-energy festival sets, the singer has spent more than a decade at the forefront of the genre.

His sudden makeover coincided with online buzz surrounding fellow Brazilian singer Simone Mendes. The 42-year-old performer also prompted intense reaction on social media after observers noticed visible differences in her facial profile on the very same day.
Mendes addressed the discussion directly, confirming that she had undergone cosmetic procedures aimed at lifting the tip of her nose, which she said had drooped. However, she clarified that she had not undergone a surgical rhinoplasty and cautioned followers that the appearance was not the final outcome. Barretos rodeo festival attendance record
The new look follows a historic appearance by Lima at the 71st Festa do Peão de Barretos, held in the interior of São Paulo state. The festival set a public attendance record on the final day of the rodeo, drawing more than 100,000 people into the arena for performances by Leonardo, the duo João Bosco & Vinícius, and Lima.
Festa do Peão de Barretos is the largest and most famous rodeo gathering in Latin America, functioning as a cultural cornerstone for Brazil's rural traditions and sertanejo industry. The annual festival combines competitive bull riding and equestrian contests with massive musical stages that attract fans from across the country.
The concert marked Lima's first return to Barretos since 2022. His participation in 2026 made him the only artist ever to be named the official ambassador of the prestigious gathering three times.
Across the entire 11 days of rodeos and festivities, nearly one million visitors entered the festival grounds, according to organizers. The 2026 programme staged a total of 150 concerts.
