When you release a huge blockbuster like Avatars, the best of Hollywood comes out to happily join the franchise. But if you wait 14 years to release the second film, you run the risk of one or two actors totally losing track of when that film should have been released, and you may have an accident on your hands.
Four-Emmy Award Winning Actress Ed Falco (The Sopranos, Nurse Jackie) has a role in the recently released sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water. She plays General Frances Ardmore, who is the military commander in charge of Pandora in the sequel. But she filmed her scenes so many years ago, and recently she realized that he hadn’t actually been released in recent years as she had thought. She explained in a recent interview on The View:
“I saw the first one when it came out. The second Avatar I did four years ago. I’ve been busy and done stuff. Someone mentioned Avatar and I thought, ‘Oh, I guess that came out and it didn’t work very well because I haven’t heard of it.” It happens. Someone recently said, ‘Avatar is coming out,’ and I said, ‘Oh, it’s not out yet?’ I’ll never work again because I said so…”
Falco went on to admit that she was disappointed that her character was not one of the Na’vi, nor an Avatar.
“I wanted to be blue. I was thrilled to be blue and very tall. I had none of those things.”
Edie Falco is pretty funny. Too bad she didn’t get tall and blue, but I’m glad she’s in the movie, as she’s good at everything she does. Avatar: The Way of Water it’s in theaters now.
