For someone who has a huge new job as co-CEO of DC Studios and needs to write a new one Superman movie, I don’t know how James Gunn make time to play on social media and respond to fans. I hardly have time to post anything on social media!
However, James Gunn and Peter Safran was asked by a fan if any of the animated DC shows like it Justice League Unlimited and Young Justice they were an inspiration to them when planning their new DC Cinematic Universe. His reply was…”Definitely”.
Those animated shows included Batman: The Animated Series and Superman: The Animated Series are some of the best examples of superhero storytelling. They did a great job of capturing the perfect tone of these characters. I’m surprised other directors haven’t been inspired by them.
I love that Gunn and Safran are watching these classic animated shows as they plan their universe. It will be interesting to see how exactly they helped inspire their new take on these iconic DC characters.
