Sometimes it’s not just horror films like ‘Terrifier 2’ that stir up controversy, there are also drama films which, for one reason or another, have generated controversy for their creepy stories. However, they are plots that if you are capable of withstanding strong emotions, you should know and see at least once in your life to experience a different type of cinema.

For different reasons, ’12 Years of Slavery’ was a controversial drama film, and not for nothing, but because the story directed by Steve McQueen is set in a dark time for the United States. The plot follows Solomon, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, a free black man who is kidnapped and sold into slavery. Available on Star+.

The story follows Lester, a depressed father going through a midlife crisis, who, at the turn of his life, falls in love with his young daughter’s friend. One of the best dramatic films with a disturbing story It’s “American History X,” directed by Tony Kaye and starring Edwart Norton and Edward Furlong. To close with this controversial American trilogy we have ‘American Psycho’, a suspense thriller by Mary Harron, starring Christian Bale, Jared Leto and Willem Dafoe. The story follows a successful businessman who is obsessed with perfection, both physical and material. But his obsession with career success drives him crazy trying to fit in with the elite. Antichrist

Could not miss one of the most controversial directors in the history of cinema, such as Lars von Trier with ‘Antichrist’. An intense drama starring Willem Dafoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg in which they play a couple who have just lost a child. To overcome the pain in their hearts, the couple decides to go to a hut to heal their marriage, but things go awry.

Finally we have “Benedict”, a film by director Paul Verhoeven, with Virginie Efire, Charlotte Rampling and others. The story is set in the seventeenth century, a girl enters the convent of Pescia as a novice.
