Jason Ritter will join his wife Melanie Lynsky in the upcoming second season of Showtime’s hit series Yellow Jackets. She will guest star in one episode of the new season.
Ritter joins the former cast Juliet Lewis (Camping), Christian Ricci (Z: The beginning of everything) and Brown cypress (Unforgettable), Lauren Ambrose (Six feet underground, servant), Simone Kessel (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings) in a season-long story arc as a city detective named Walter.
Earlier this year, Ritter also appeared opposite his wife in Peacock’s Candy. Speaking about working with her husband, Lynskey said:
“He’s such a wonderful actor and a really nice person. When I got back to work, everyone was like, ‘Your husband is the nicest guy!’ He makes me look smart, like I’ve picked a great partner. He’s so good and it’s really fun to work with someone who’s creative and interesting and does something different with every take, which is what he does. He is also very good at improvisation. It’s difficult though because we try to support each other when the other is working. If we were both working on something full time, it would be tough. I already feel like our nanny is working so hard when I’m at work!
Yellow Jackets was created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (narcos). The series follows a talented high school girls soccer team who survive a plane crash in the remote northern wilderness. The story “tells their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracing the lives they attempted to rebuild nearly 25 years later, proving that the past was never really the past and what began in the desert is all nothing but finished.”
The series is also starring Tawny Cypress, Ella Purnell, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Sammi Hanratty, Steven Krueger, and Warren Cole.
Previously discussing Season 2, Ricci teased that it’s “crazier, more shocking and really gripping and fun.” She went on to say, “I can’t really go into too much detail, but I will say the first two scripts blew the whole cast away. So it’s even wilder.”
Yellow Jackets will premiere on March 24, 2023.
