On June 17, “Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse” will arrive in Spanish cinemas, the new adventure with Miles Morales and Spider-Gwen that continues the story presented in “Spider-Man: A New Universe”. In that installment, which won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, we got our first contact with his multiverse, a concept we’ll delve deeper into in the sequel. As if that wasn’t enough the release of a new trailer last week, the first poster.

In addition to seeing our protagonist, Miles, behind him are a large number of Spider-Persons who will be part of the film. To the left and closer to Miles we see Miguel O’Hara, known as Spider-Man 2099, voiced by Oscar Isaac. According to one of the previews of ‘Crossing the Multiverse’, this character will be a serious problem for Miles and Gwen. Despite being touted as one of the film’s main challenges, story makers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord have revealed that he won’t be a villain: “He’s not the villain of the movie, but he’s kind of an antagonist to Miles because they both think what they’re doing is the right thing to do.” They add that the two have a lot in common, but that they don’t always agree, especially when it comes to the safety of the multiverse.

Right behind Miguel we see Spider-Woman, the woman with the afro hair, who is a heroine who will be the model for Spider-Gwen. “A lot of work went into making that character great. If you’ve ever been around Issa (Issa Rae, who voices her), she’s a powerhouse of talent and talent, so you want the character to be as cool as she is.”say the creators of the character’s story.

Miles Morales and La Mancha in

Not appearing on the poster is ‘Crossing the Multiverse’ villain La Mancha (Jason Schwartzman), a character capable of creating portals between different dimensions, altering reality, and repelling his enemies through the portals he creates in his body. These qualities make Lord and Miller see him as the perfect fit for an animated film, despite not being a top-notch villain in the comics. On La Mancha they completed: “I like villains best when they reflect the hero’s journeys, sort of a dark reflection of the protagonist. And I think The Taint is no different. You want to be seen as legit. He’s a character who has a silly suit and isn’t always seen as one of Spider-Man’s greatest foes, but like all of us, he wants to be taken seriously.”

Spider-Man 2099 and The Stain aren’t the only thing Miles will have to deal with, Miller and Lord spoke about the emotional and personal journey the teenager will go through in this installment: “As he gets older, he tries to figure out how he can go out and see the world, spread his wings and leave the nest. But he also feels connected to his home and family. It’s that push and pull of your teenage life where you think, “How can I be myself, but not forget where I’m from?”

some of the other faces

It could not be missing from the Spider-Gwen poster, to the left of Miles, to which Hailee Steinfeld once again lends her voice. Behind her we see a spider-man with a large crest, it is Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya), a homeless teenager who received his powers from a radioactive spider born from the toxic waste dump of Norman Osborn’s company. Between Spider-Punk and Gwen we see Peter B. Parker, a hero who in “A New Universe” was one of the Spideys who fought alongside Miles. Before him we find Spider-India.

Returning to the area where Spider-Man 2099 and Spider-Woman are, we find each other Ben Reilly, one of the most mythical spider-men in comics. He is a clone of the original Spider-Man, Peter Parker, and is the protagonist of the famous story “The Clone Saga”. Finally, behind him we find a character with a paper bag on his head, which refers to the moment in the comics where Spider-Man, faced with the need to don a suit in an emergency situation when his own was not available, wore a Fantastic Four suit and a bag over his head to hide his identity.

‘Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse’ opens in Spain on June 17.
