Engaged couple Harry and Sandra Redknapp admit they love each other no less than they did more than half a century ago after tying the knot.
Redknapp was a promising young footballer at West Ham United when he met apprentice hairdresser Sandra Young on a loud dance floor above Stratford’s legendary Two Puddings pub in 1968.
But while the Two Puddings closed for the last time two decades ago, Harry and Sandra remain as inseparable as they were on their wedding day – and the pair insist the key to their remarkable longevity is mutual friendship.

Harry, 75, who appeared on Tuesday’s Loose Women, said: “We just love each other. It’s always just the two of us, people probably think we don’t have friends.’
The former West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth boss was spotted on the ITV show with his wife as they promoted their new memoir When Harry Met Sally, an anecdotal look back at their love story.
Speaking about the life-changing night he met Sandra, Harry said: “There used to be a dance over the two puddings in Stratford – it was like a disco playing all the music so I went there with my partner went.

Old times: Harry and Sandra exchanged vows on June 30, 1968 (pictured together in 1977)
“Sandra was there with her friend. We worked up the courage to dance and I think Sandra got the worst offer because my partner was better looking than me. It really is, we’ve been together ever since.’
Harry, better known for his 32-year management career, gained a bigger fan base in 2018 after winning the eighteenth series of ITV reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
The former football manager famously reunited with his wife in the Australian jungle after show bosses allowed a surprise meeting, and Harry admits his emotional reaction was down to Sandra falling ill before she entered the camp.

Close: “We just love each other. It’s always just the two of us, people probably think we don’t have friends,” Harry said of the key to their successful marriage.

Awkward: However, he blushed on Tuesday morning after Loose Women panellist Coleen Nolan revealed he had never changed a nappy or even cooked a meal for Sandra.
He explained: “What made it worse was that right before I went on the show, Sandra had sepsis and was very sick, so I wasn’t going to go there, you know. But then she improved so I said any problems and I’m right there.
“Anyway, when they called me to the Bush Telegraph or whatever they called it, they said, ‘We want you to come out, you have to leave the camp immediately.
“I said, ‘What happened? They said ‘We can’t tell you, you have to get out, you have to go now.’ “So when I saw Sandra, it became ten times worse than I thought there was a problem.”

However, he blushed after Loose Women panelist Coleen Nolan revealed that in 54 years of marriage he had never changed a nappy or even cooked Sandra a meal.
“No, I’m pretty useless,” he admitted. “I can mess things up. It’s just scary how bad I am.’
Loose Women airs every weekday from 12.30pm on ITV1.
