Earlier this year, the hottest topic of the moment was the upcoming trial that has divided the public, the defamation case between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp. After handing down the ruling in favor of the actor, the ‘Aquaman’ star was willing to continue with the demands, but now both sides have reached an agreement, and closes one of the most controversial cases in recent years.
After starting an appeal process, now Amber Heard and Johnny Depp have reached an agreement put an end to quarrels. On her Instagram account, the actress shared a statement about it: “After much discussion, I have made the difficult decision to settle the defamation case brought against me by my ex-husband in Virginia,” Heard said.
“I have not made any admissions, this is not an act of concession. From now on there will be no restrictions or gags regarding my voice”, were some of the words of Amber Heard after the Johnny Depp defamation case. Furthermore, he acknowledged that the US and UK legal systems allowed for the case to become a reality show where the audience was part of the development.
In early December, Amber Heard has filed an appeal against the Johnny Depp casewhich was withdrawn on Monday the 19th, since, “although [su] appeal in the US is successful, the best outcome would be a new trial in which a new jury would have to re-examine the evidence”. After several months of legal disputes, both film actors can now continue their lives without going back to court.

When will Amber Heard pay Johnny Depp?
The Virginia court jury found that Amber Heard should pay $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million in punitive damages. A judge later reduced the punitive damages to $350,000 due to the limits allowed by law. At the moment there are no details on what the terms of the agreement were, but several sources indicate that the debt would have been reduced to 1 million dollars.
If continued, Heard and Depp would again be involved in a legal process that would call them to court for a third time. In such a scenario, the judge and the court would have to review the evidence of both parties and reach a resolution. Something the actress has commented that she is unwilling to be placed at the center of new public scrutiny.
It is currently not officially known whether Amber Heard will continue in ‘Aquaman and the Lost Empire’, while she explained that her decision not to pursue the lawsuit against Johnny Depp should not be seen as an acknowledgment of her actions, but rather an acceptance that he would not have been able to bear a third ordeal.
