James Wan is set to produce a series adaptation of Robert McCammonThe sci-fi horror novel Sting for Peacock, and that will make for a really fun and crazy show!

The story is a tribute to the sci-fi horror films of an earlier era and follows a diverse group of people on a ranch who must come together when faced with a mysterious threat.

Stinger takes place during a single twenty-four hour period in Inferno, Texas. “Inferno is a city in trouble, brought to the brink by racial tension, gang violence, and a collapsing economy. But things can always get worse, and they do so with astonishing speed when an unidentified spaceship crashes in the desert outside the city, followed by a second spaceship carrying the alien being soon to be known as Stinger. Stinger is a kind of interstellar hunter on a mission that he intends to complete, whatever the cost. It brings with it an endless array of technological marvels and an infinite capacity for destruction that threaten the existence of Inferno, its inhabitants, and the larger world beyond.

Doesn’t it look like it’s going to be a great series!? The novel is described as having the “most memorably horrific imagery you will ever come across”. It is also described as “adrenaline-pumping fiction of the first order, its classic pulp fantasy elements transformed and elevated by a master storyteller.”

The project was developed by Ian McCulloch (Yellowstone), who is a writer and executive producer. It is currently called “Untitled Ian McCulloch Project.”

Lisa Katz, President Scripted Content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming said in a statement, “We are so excited about this adrenaline-pumping thriller about a group of people overcoming adversity, it is both funny and emotional. We know this upcoming drama will be in expert hands with James Wan, EL Katz, Ian McCulloch, our partners at UCP, and will certainly be a noteworthy mystery for Peacock audiences.

Beatrice Springborn, President, UCP added: “When you combine James Wan, Ian McCulloch, EL Katz and a bestselling novel by Robert McCammon, you have all the ingredients for an incredible series. We are thrilled to partner with Peacock to bring this spine-tingling spectacle to their audiences.”

James Wan of Atomic Monster (The Conjuring Universe, File 81, Malicious), Michael Clear (File 81, Swamp Thing) and Rob Hackett (Archive 81, I know what you did last summer) will executive produce alongside (101) director/executive producer El Katz (The haunting of Bly Manor, Channel Zero) and executive producer/writer Robert McCammon (Stinger).
